This non-accredited course covers the application of AS/NZS 3017 and the common test methods that are required to test a low voltage electrical installation, fault identification and documenting test results.

New electrical installations and any modification to existing installations (such as repairs and upgrades), must be tested before being put into service or use. This is to ensure that the installations comply with the Australian and New Zealand electrical installations standards (AS/NZS 3000).

The College of Electrical Training provides a non-accredited course to final year apprentice electrical mechanics, electrical fitters and licensed electricians - the training, skills and knowledge to visually inspect and test a low voltage electrical installation in compliance with the requirement of AS/NZS 3000.
Applicants must hold a current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s or Training Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory.
Fully enclosed shoes must be worn at all times in CET buildings. Safety boots/shoes must be worn when working in the workshop.
